Account & data deletion

You can request deletion of your Taniyur account and the personal data we hold about you. This page explains how — for residents using the Taniyur mobile app and for anyone who cannot access the app.
Option 1 — Delete in the Taniyur app (recommended)
If you are signed in on the Taniyur Android or iOS app:
- Open the app and go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll to Privacy & Data and tap Delete account data.
- Review what will be removed, then continue to the confirmation step.
- Type DELETE and tap Permanently delete my account.
The app will sign you out when deletion completes. You will need to register again if you wish to use Taniyur in the future.
Option 2 — Request by email
If you cannot use the app (lost device, cannot sign in, or committee-provisioned account), email us from the address or phone number linked to your Taniyur account:
- privacy@taniyur.com (data protection / deletion requests)
- info@taniyur.com (general grievance channel)
Include your full name, registered mobile or email, society name (if any), and flat number (if applicable). We will verify your identity before processing the request.
We aim to respond within 72 hoursas required under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove or anonymise personal identifiers such as:
- Name, email, phone number, and profile photo
- Firebase / sign-in credentials linked to your account
- Push notification tokens
- Personal profile and address fields stored on your user record
Society operational records you created (e.g. complaints, gate passes, marketplace listings tied to your user ID) may be retained in anonymised or audit form where required for society governance, billing disputes, or legal obligations. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
Download your data first
Before deleting, you can export a copy of your data from the app: Profile → Privacy & Data → Download my data.
